This flyer is from my very first event at TSU - Young Bold and Irreverent. On February 7, 2011, talented Mr. Eric Grenados put together this event for CHANGE on our campus. With these four young gentleman, (I was the only girl! Yeah, take that!) we sat in from of the student body and gave our views on fashion, success, goals, and the importance of taking life by the reins.
Each of us had our own stories to bring: Donte Newman is an ASTONISHING public speaker/poet, and is a star on Texas Southern’s Debate Team. Ricky Fowler, who I have worked with numerous times, is an equally talented photographer. Boy I tell ya, he’s DOPE, and has sense become a valued friend of mine. Ryan Grant, who hails from Houston, Texas, developed his own clothing line (La Vita) his freshman year of college, and has sense done shows for Houston’s Fashion Week, in New York City, and on Howard University’s campus. He has had some of the hottest celebrities wearing his pieces, all while being a college student.
And last but not least, myself. I am an inspiring, wait scratch that, I AM a model, who while I am still independent, will soon be a contracted model. Although Donte and I are the only two of the four who still attend TSU, I plan on finishing with my B.A. (and still making time for traveling the world, fucking up a catwalk near you.) I always envisioned my college experience too, so… here I am, experiencing it to the fullest. Anywho, just wanted to share this huge-mini part of my life that I’m really proud of. A friend and I just had a deeeep conversation. It made me realize that no matter how much you’re going through, someone will always have it worse than you, and in that situation you have to be the one to dig them out of their sorrows. I hate to see people so distraught. Especially because I know the Lord is working towards a greater purpose for them. I just wish that they could see it themselves. THANK HIM! He loves to hear ‘Thank you.’ And he loves to see your SMILE. One smile is worth a billion bad days, and it’ll make you feel a little better too:)
